Our first reading and writing units are well underway. We are working on building our stamina and thinking about who we are as readers. We are looking for books and genres that are highly interesting to read and are thinking about books that are at the right reading level for us. In writing, students are almost finished with their descriptive paragraphs about Andrew's Garden. Next, we will write a narrative piece where they will use everything they already know about story writing to develop their writing technique. Be on the lookout! We will post more soon...

We look forward to seeing our DGS 5th grade families on Monday evening for our annual Back to School Night and Watermelon Social. WHEW! You will have a chance to meet classroom teachers, partners at DGS, mingle with other families, and attend a short presentation on what to look forward to this year. Watermelon Social 5:15 - 6:00 on the DGS blacktop and playground Classroom Presentations 6:00 - 7:00 in your child's homeroom classroom (Room 116 or Room 117) We will have class lists posted on our doors. |
