We are excited to share with you that that we have two more excursions coming up. We will go to Ameritowne on February 1st at the Young Americans Bank in Denver, CO. We have have jobs at Ameritowne and will earn fake money to buy real things, such as snacks and drinks. Your child filled out a job application that will decide the job he/she will get. Also, your child took a skills assessment and a risk assessment that gave an idea of the jobs they would be good at. In EFS, we have been learning about the jobs in Ameritowne. Next week we will learn more about Ameritowne and what we will do there. For example, we will learn about all the vocabulary and we will vote for a judge and a mayor.
We will also go on a ski trip on January 26th. We will leave at 8 in the morning and come back at 5 in the evening. Make sure your child gets to school around 7:30 and we will get back to school late, so make sure your child has arrangements can get home. A green permission slip was sent home that has a list of all the supplies that you need to bring. If you have all of the supplies, great. If not, Mr. Truit will provide them. You can sign your child up for ski/snowboard lessons for free or, if your child already knows how to ski/snowboard, they will demonstrate to a teacher. If they pass, they will have permission to go up the mountain with a DGS teacher and ski/snowboard all they want. If you don't take the lesson, you will need to pay 10 dollars for rentals, if needed. Post written by Grace Camacho and Sienna Arnett Dear 5th Grade Families! We are excited to share with you that we will be having a three day trip to the Balarat Outdoor Education Center from February 9-11. This will be the first class at DGS to have the opportunity to spend two nights at Balarat. Balarat is a very unique and special trip exclusively for DPS 5th grade students. Here is the Balarat website for your information. http://balarat.dpsk12.org/ In order to ensure a safe and successful trip, we need you help. Today we sent home a yellow Balarat permission slip and a medical information packet. Please read and complete the forms by the deadlines listed at the bottom of the medical packet. We would like all yellow Balarat permission forms to be turned in by January 15, 2016. We will also offer an evening information session about Balarat for parents. This session will be run by a Balarat staff member and we strongly encourage parents to attend. We are confirming dates and will send an additional email in the next week. Please continue to check our DGS 5th grade website for updates and information. This is a very exciting time for 5th graders and we appreciate your continued support! Ms. Martinez and Ms. Zendle
