5th grade literacy I grew up in Pontiac, Michigan and enjoyed playing soccer, swimming, and running track. I attended Michigan State University where I majored in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education. After I earned my degree, I taught a 3rd grade bilingual class on the Southwest side of Chicago for three years. While teaching in Chicago, I earned my bilingual and ELA endorsement. In 2009 I moved to Monterrey, Mexico to teach fourth grade at the American School Foundation of Monterrey. I had a wonderful time exploring the lively city and traveling. After returning from Mexico I taught 3rd grade in Chicago for another year. I heard about DGS from a family friend and it seemed like a dream come true. Then, I applied and was hired, and shortly after I headed west with my two cats! The rest is history! This is my third year teaching 5th grade at DGS. I have truly enjoyed working here because of the community values and dedication to best practice in education. I feel lucky to be here!

5th grade math I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by parents who relished academics and cultural activities. My childhood was filled with learning from books, musicals, and weekend international festivals. In high school, I enjoyed studying Spanish and participated in a family stay in Valencia, Spain. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, I worked in technology sales and marketing for IBM for thirteen years. When my children entered public schools, I began teaching after-school Spanish classes and volunteering to tutor a wide variety of learners. This experience motivated me to earn my Masters in Education. With my husband and children, I enjoy skiing, camping, and hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I have enjoyed teaching at Denver Green School for the last four years. I look forward to inspiring another group of fifth grade students at Denver Green School to love learning and to appreciate our natural surroundings.

5th grade science Hello 5th grade students, parents, and guardians! I am so excited to be working with all of you this year in a new role as an ILT, Science, Social Studies, and EfS teacher. I am a proud graduate of Colorado State University and love everything about my home state of Colorado. My journey as an educator began as a high school history teacher in Denver and Fort Collins. However, I have truly found my home here at DGS and love the new challenge of fifth grade students. I am thrilled about the prospect of exploring the planet from our classroom and helping students find new and meaningful ways to connect with the world around them. When I am not in the classroom I enjoy running, traveling, snowboarding, or any other activity that gets me outside!
